Low (Tight) Seam Thickness
Extremely Low (Tight) Seam Thickness can cause several unwanted effects, including cracks in the end curl or can flange and seam bumps.
In addition, it does not leave sufficient free space in the seam for the compound which may cause the compound to leak out of the can. This will normally be seen all around the can, at the bottom of the seam. The compound may also squeeze into the can causing product contamination.
Possible causes of Tight (low) Seam Thickness:
- Tight 2nd operation roll
- Incorrect Seamer setup
- Incorrect roll profile
- Incorrect cans or ends
