Tight 1st Operation Roll

A Tight 1st Operation Roll is when the roll is set too tight (too close to the chuck). This can cause damage to the roll, damage to the bearing and to the seam.

Above: These are 1st operation rolls from two different seamer heads as measured by the Clearance Gauge. You can see the roll on the right is set too tight (about 0.063″ from the chuck) vs the roll on the left, set to about 0.072″.
